Health & Safety Update - Two events are proposed this year:
* A workshop for company Chief Executives focusing on leadership in health and safety, including discharging responsibilities under corporate manslaughter legislation:
On 6th April 2008 the new Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007 comes into force. This sets out a new offence for convicting an organisation where a gross failure in the way activities were managed or organised results in a person's death. A substantial part of the failure must have been at a senior level. The new offence will apply to all companies and other forms of corporate body. There is no element of individual liability but organisations can be prosecuted corporately.
* A workshop on health and safety issues for maintenance engineers, bearing in mind especially their responsibilities for risk assessment.
