Growing support for new UK rubber and polyurethane trade association

London: Last month’s announcement that the UK’s rubber and polyurethane product  manufacturers intended to establish a new trade association [BRPPA - the British Rubber and Polyurethane Products Association] has been followed by a General Meeting of the new organisation.

Representatives from nineteen manufacturers gathered in Knowle, West Midlands last week, listening to presentations setting out the aims and objectives of the organisation and discussing both essential and desirable member services.

Elections were made to the board, and representatives from Clwyde Compounders, Hallam Polymer Engineering, Icon Polymer Group, Rosehill Polymers, Trelleborg AVS and West Pharmaceutical will now take the embryonic organisation forward into its first, vitally important, year of operation.

Richard Gogerty, Chief Executive of the Icon Polymer Group and the newly elected  Chairman of the board, was greatly encouraged by the enthusiasm of all those present saying:

“ At the end of the meeting the majority of the companies represented indicated that they would be submitting membership applications. Ten companies had already submitted their applications, so I am confident that we shall commence life as the UK’s newest trade association on 1 January 2006 with at least twenty five members.”

He continued: “Research suggests that there are at least one hundred and ten UK companies which could benefit from  BRPPA membership, and a pro-active membership recruitment drive is underway.  This is a new opportunity for our industry and we need the support of as many companies as possible to ensure that BRPPA can effectively represent the needs of the UK’s rubber and polyurethane product manufacturers.”
